Synastry

Your chart and a loved one’s, laid over each other: what draws you together, what rubs, and what helps you grow.

Included in the Forecasts plan

What is it?

Synastry compares two birth charts. It looks at the aspects that one person’s planets make to the other’s: one person’s Venus on the other’s Mars, one’s Moon opposite the other’s Saturn, and so on.

It also looks at where each person’s planets fall in the other’s houses: your partner’s Sun in your 7th house, the house of partnership, tells a different story from your 10th house, the house of career.

What it’s for

  • Understand attraction and harmony in a couple
  • Spot friction points before they turn into conflicts
  • Shed light on a friendship, a family tie or a working relationship
  • Go further than sign compatibility, which only compares two Suns

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between synastry and sign compatibility?

Sign compatibility only compares the positions of two Suns. Synastry compares both full charts: every planet, angle and house of each person.

Do I need both people’s birth times?

It’s better: they give the Ascendants and houses. Without a time, synastry is still calculated on the planets, without houses or angles.

How is it different from the composite chart?

Synastry compares two charts. The composite builds a single chart, the chart of the relationship itself, from the midpoints of both people’s planets.
