What is it?

Secondary progressions rest on a simple key: the sky of the first day after your birth describes your first year, the thirtieth day your thirtieth year. Your progressed chart is your birth chart slowly moved forward.

The progressed Sun moves about one degree a year and changes sign roughly every thirty years. The much faster progressed Moon crosses a sign in about two and a half years: it gives the emotional climate of the main stages of your life.

What it’s for

  • Understand the main stages of your inner life
  • Follow your progressed Moon, sign by sign and house by house
  • Spot your progressed planets changing sign
  • Cross-check with transits to confirm an important period

Frequently asked questions

Why one day for one year?

It’s the traditional key of secondary progressions: the day after birth is read as a symbolic summary of the whole life, each day standing for one year.

Which progressed planet says the most?

The progressed Moon: it changes sign about every two and a half years and describes the climate of each period very well. The progressed Sun marks deeper, rarer changes.

Do I need an accurate birth time?

Yes for the progressed Moon and the progressed angles, which move fast. An error in the time shifts the calculated dates.
